REPRINTING THE MOST SOUGHT AFTER US ERROR! THE INVERTED JENNY
The original Inverted Jenny stamp, issued in 1918, was meant to depict a Curtiss JN-4H biplane used for airmail delivery. However, due to a printing error, one sheet of 100 stamps showed the biplane upside down. This mistake led to the creation of one of the most sought-after philatelic treasures in U.S. history.
2013, the USPS reprinted this error in a souvenir sheet containing six $2 stamps. The updated souvenir sheet features six Inverted Jenny stamps, surrounded by an illustration that includes the National Postal Museum, the route of the first regularly scheduled airmail service, and aviation pioneer Reuben H. Fleet.
