USPS HONORS SAUL BELLOW WITH A 3 OUNCE FOREVER STAMP IN ITS LITERARY ARTS SERIES
The Saul Bellow stamp, issued by the United States Postal Service, commemorates the renowned novelist Saul Bellow (1915–2005). As the 34th stamp in the Literary Arts series, it pays tribute to Bellow’s literary achievements. He is the only person to have won the National Book Award for fiction three times, and he received other prestigious accolades, including the Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Prize in literature. Bellow’s work has left a lasting impact on 20th-century literature, making this stamp a fitting tribute to his legacy. The stamp art features a pen and ink and watercolor portrait of Bellow, based on photographs from 1982, with a Chicago street scene in the background, reflecting the city where he spent most of his life.
