Description
The water tower at Alīses Street was built in 1910–1911, and it was an important element of the water supply system. The water was pumped into the tower and then supplied to the townspeople. Due to the tall buildings constructed in Riga in the 1930s the water tower was no longer able to fully perform its functions, so in 1937 it was made 7.5 meters higher, reaching a height of 40 meters. The water tower terminated its function as a water supply system in 1970, but until 2010 it housed the premises of the emergency service staff of the water supply company Rīgas ūdens.
