On September 24, 2021, AVUS, the automobile traffic and training route, will celebrate its 100th birthday. The famous racing and test track, which was considered the world's first pure car road when it opened, runs from the western city limits of Berlin like an almost dead straight line for around nine kilometers through the Grunewald to the radio tower and today forms the northern section of the federal motorway A 115. For decades, the AVUS has hosted spectacular racing events, at times it was the fastest racetrack ever and its notorious north curve was one of the capital's landmarks. Right from the start, the AVUS could also be used by motorized passenger transport and became a showcase project for modern road construction.

The history of AVUS as an internationally renowned race track with ups and downs, with rapid records and tragic accidents ended in 1998 after 77 years. It is a place with an "eventful" history in the truest sense of the word, namely an interesting piece of mobility, road and racing history.
