PORTUGAL JOINS THE WORLDWIDE PHILATELIC CRAZE WITH HARRY POTTER MAGIC

Harry Potter, the boy wizard, who more than two decades ago, on his eleventh birthday was whisked onto Platform 93/4 at King’s Cross Station, and readers everywhere were swept along with him into a magical universe, created by J.K. Rowling.  Portugal has now joined the United States, Spain and Great Britain in celebrating the worldwide phenomenon that has inspired eight blockbuster movies, an award-winning stage play, and, more recently, the start of the Fantastic Beasts ve- lm series. People of all ages have been enthralled by these extraordinary adventures, set within an expanding universe, inspired by the vision of J.K. Rowling.

Harry Potter follows his journey on the extraordinary Hogwarts Express train to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.  The young wizard and his inseparable friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger appear before us as clearly de ned characters with solid pro les, under the eye of Professor Albus Dumbledore, demanding the right to happiness between the walls of Hogwarts Castle.

Albus Dumbledore is the aged and wise Headmaster of Hogwarts during Harry’s time at the school. Known to be the only wizard of whom the evil Lord Voldemort is frightened, Dumbledore is a source of great comfort to Harry and is crucial in his quest to destroy the Dark Lord.
It is not only the Professor Dumbledore who helps Harry in his hard moments, Rubeus Hagrid, the half-giant, Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts, with a fondness for magical creatures, Hagrid’s gentle spirit becomes his great friend and provides comfort to Harry throughout his years at Hogwarts.
