Crops Of The Americas Postage Stamps
If history is correct, it took the original settlers quite a while to figure out what types of plants to grow, and where to plant them, once they arrived in North America. With help from the Native American’s, and the endless resolve of the settlers, certain plants were able to be cultivated easily and are still an important part of the food supply in America.
The United States Postal Service issued five postage stamps titled “Crops of the Americas” in 2006 to pay tribute to several plants that have benefited the people of the United States. These stamps feature pictures of three types of chili peppers, a variety of beans, a sunflower plant and seeds, various squashes, and three types of corn. Each of the plants featured on the stamps can be grown throughout the United States and produce a good amount of food.
